 The Castel Nuovo Museo Civico in Naples was built in 1279 to protect the port of Naples. This impressive Naples castle contains the interesting Museo Civico (Municipal Museum), home to many important local artefacts from around Naples and other areas of Italy.
One part of the Museo Civico (Municipal Museum), housed in the Gothic Capella Palatina, features many beautiful 14th- and 15th-century frescoes. The other section of the Municipal Museum is located in the south wing and contains historic paintings and an extensive collection of silver and bronzes, which date from the 15th century to present day.
